Karnataka court stays Sania Khel ratna
Telangana99.com-Sports Desk:Today the Karnataka High Court, stayed Sania Mirza’s Khel Ratna award. Following the plea from paralympian HN Girisha, the Karnataka High Court has directed immediate notices to Central government and Sania Mirza.The 2012 London Paralympics silver medallist and 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games bronze medallist Girisha felt that he deserved the award and not the Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza. Girisha was earlier honoured with Padma Shri and Arjuna awards for his a For Khel Ratna award, Sania’s name was recommended by a Sports Ministry constituted awards committee headed by Justice V K Bali, the retired Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
